NEET: Were mistakes in answer keys rectified ?
Students had challenged the answer key to the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) that was released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), barely a week before results for the common medical entrance test were announced.
Students have pointed at some questions marked wrong in the official answer key.
.
“A student is awarded four marks for every correct answer and minus one for a wrong answer. Looking at the bulk of students who have pointed at the same mistakes, looks like CBSE will have to take this into consideration,” Rajesh Jain, a member of Parents’ Association for Medical Students (PAMS), said.
The answer key to both phases of NEET-1 held on May 1 and the second held on July 24 — were released by CBSE on Monday and the board was open to students challenging the answer key till Thursday.
“If our answer is correct and we’ve been marked wrongly, then we stand to get five marks for each correct answer. Every mark can change ranks by several notches so we will fight tooth and nail to prove our point,” a student said.
CBSE officials had said that the questions will be looked into by an expert committee.
“Our committee will look into the questions challenged by students and accordingly we will announce the results. As of now students will have to wait to get some clarity in this issue,” Rama Sharma, CBSE PRO, said.
The results for both the phases announced on August 16.
